CANiK ACADEMY Trained Over 2,000 People in More Than 10 Countries in 3 Years

CANiK ACADEMY, one of CANiK’s visionary projects, is celebrating its 3rd anniversary. Initially established to provide training on the proper use of pistols and their accessories, the academy has evolved into an educational institution that addresses various aspects of shooting, including tactical and sports shooting. Over the past three years, CANiK ACADEMY has trained participants in more than 10 countries, including Singapore, the Philippines, the USA, Brazil, and South Africa, in addition to Türkiye. The academy reached over 2,000 participants and claimed success in service exports.

 

CANiK ACADEMY offers a wide range of training programs, from tactical pistol shooting to firearm maintenance, from tactical first aid to sports shooting, among others. The academy served its customers with 20 training modules in its first year. Today, in response to participants’ demands, CANiK ACADEMY offers over 40 modules.

 

“We Built Our Vision on Awareness and Safety”

İsmail Dut, Director of CANiK ACADEMY, noted the following on the academy’s establishment: “It was difficult to establish a roadmap for our academy, as there was no established market in Türkiye for it. Furthermore, the demand in this area was centered on military and law enforcement forces, and finding a way to capture a general audience in this field was challenging as well. As such, before establishing CANiK ACADEMY, we conducted extensive preliminary preparations. We tried to develop our training programs based on the demands of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies. Developing a roadmap on how to deliver the training was a challenging task because it required combining approaches used in different countries with the characteristics and expectations of our target audience in Türkiye, and building a culture around this synthesis. Addressing the uncertainties in this process took a considerable amount of time. In 2021, we completed our preparations by building our vision on the concept of ‘awareness and safety.’

When we started our activities, we witnessed how the systematic scientific approach we took, along with the adaptation of the training experience to the local culture, could make a difference. The fact that we now reach an audience belonging to various age groups from all walks of life shows that we can appeal to different audiences simultaneously, and this makes us proud.”

 

CANiK ACADEMY Exports Training

Dut emphasized that the Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS) ecosystem, including brands like CANiK, MECANiK, and CANiK Team, is targeting the global market. He highlighted the academy’s role in exporting training services as follows: “In line with this vision, we structured the academy to offer international training. We gained our first international training experience in our first year in Singapore. Observing how effectively we were able to transfer our capacity and experience to the participants during this training reassured us that we were on the right track. In 2023, we made a significant impact with a single training export to South Africa, and due to the increased demand following the training, we managed to reach over 450 participants in various countries around the world within just the past year. Looking back at the three years, we have provided training to over 2,000 participants in more than 10 countries, including Singapore, the Philippines, the USA, Brazil, and South Africa.”

 

Discipline, Safety, and Experience Form the Foundation of the Training

CANiK ACADEMY provides training under the motto “Experience teaches,” and as such, its team of instructors includes former military and law enforcement personnel with extensive field experience, along with civilian instructors who have proven their competence in the field both in sports and academics. Dut explained, “We place great importance on ensuring that our training personnel have established careers with proven track records, as discipline, safety, and experience form the foundation of our training programs. All training sessions are fundamentally based on the effective application of general safety rules, which are then augmented according to the profile of the participants. We determine which methods being used in the field will be conveyed to trainees, and how to do so within a systematic scientific framework. Our goal is to enhance our participants’ environmental awareness and physical skills so that they can respond effectively to situations they may encounter in real life. Participants can develop their skills further through the training they receive on this foundation, along with the examinations conducted at the end of the training, ongoing mentorship from instructors, and additional development training they may take later. All of these factors provide a significant advantage in the rapid and safe transfer of accurate information.”

 

Training Programs Cater to All Professions

The training sessions are open to individuals who are 18 years or older, including young candidates who are new to using handguns and professionals who are already familiar with them. CANiK ACADEMY has trained people from all walks of life, including lawyers, surgeons, engineers, and businesspeople, among others. Participants are introduced to tactical clothing and first aid kits designed by the MECANiK brand, which sponsors the equipment of the academy instructors, during their training sessions. In theoretical training, participants lay the foundation for their physical skills using training pistols designed by CANiK. When it comes time for live-fire training, those with licensed handguns can use their own weapons, while those without licenses can continue their training with CANiK-branded pistols provided by the instructors. The instructors select the handgun for each participant, taking into account the individual’s physical characteristics and comfort. Until the completion of the training facility, which is expected to be finished in 2025, the training sessions will continue at the shooting ranges the academy partners with. International training sessions are conducted at facilities provided by the institutions requesting the training, as the training is tailored to their specific needs.

 

Training Programs Offered at CANiK ACADEMY

The training modules offered at CANiK ACADEMY are continuously updated and developed to meet the needs of participants based on their expertise and competency levels. Individual participants can register for training through the website academy.canik.com, where they can also complete payment and registration for the relevant module. Those interested in corporate or group training sessions (for 8–10 people) can fill out the Corporate Training Request Form available on the website to initiate contact with the academy.

The academy offers training across six programs, covering more than 40 modules. The training programs include the following categories:

The tactical operator and advanced training programs are exclusively provided as corporate training programs. The duration of the training sessions varies depending on the specific training module.

 

CANiK ACADEMY: The Power Behind CANiK Team’s Success

CANiK ACADEMY has played a significant role in the success of the CANiK Team in sport shooting, through the Team implementing the academy’s scientifically developed training methods. Since 2021, CANiK ACADEMY has provided training and support to CANiK Team athletes, who belong to Türkiye’s first defense industry-supported sport shooting club. The academy prepares these athletes for shooting championships in the United States and Europe. Additionally, the Sport Shooting Training Modules offered by CANiK ACADEMY support new sport shooters who wish to enhance their skills in this field.
