One of the most important factors affecting shooting performance is effective recoil control. Shooters can use various accessories to reduce recoil and associated muzzle rise to improve their shooting performance. Furthermore, pistol manufacturers are continuously improving their designs to reduce muzzle rise significantly, in addition to other performance increases. The CANiK TTI Combat reduces muzzle rise by approximately 30 percent thanks to the use of a compensator and thus offers a significant advantage in reducing recoil.
Compensators help reduce recoil and muzzle rise by venting some of the gunpowder gases that need to exit the barrel when the cartridge is fired, in different directions before they exit the muzzle. (Figure 1)
Pistol compensators support the shooter by reducing recoil and muzzle rise, and they can be mounted on the accessory rail or barrel thread, some barrels also have compensator ports.
Up to Thirty Percent Less Muzzle Rise with the Compensated CANiK TTI Combat
In shots made by a medium-level shooter with the CANiK TTI Combat, the muzzle rise measured at 24° was found to be an average of 35° in a pistol of similar size and weight without a compensator.[1]
In light of these data, it was observed that the CANiK TTI Combat reduced muzzle rise by approximately 30 percent thanks to its compensator.
Stay on Target with Lower Recoil
The total horizontal movement of the barrel in the shot-muzzle rise-aim line return process is defined as "recoil width."[1]
The occurrence of this movement within a narrower area indicates more effective muzzle rise control during the shot and that the pistol returns to the aim line in a more linear direction.

To illustrate through a competitive shooting example, faster aiming for each double shot thanks to the compensator provides the shooter with approximately a 25 percent time advantage in split times.
More Stable, More Accurate
With lower muzzle rise and recoil width, the faster re-established aiming line allows the shooter to maintain high stability during engagement with the target, resulting in higher accuracy.
Enhance Your Shooting Comfort
Using a compensator also reduces hand and wrist fatigue for the shooter. Longer shooting training sessions can be conducted with less physical effort. This increased shooting comfort positively affects training efficiency and accuracy, especially for shooters with hand and wrist injuries or those at the beginner level with concerns about recoil.
In conclusion, compensators allow for more comfortable, faster, and more accurate shooting, providing many advantages to shooters in both tactical and sport shooting. However, it should be remembered that the efficiency gained from auxiliary equipment like compensators can be further enhanced by applying proper shooting techniques.
