As societies and countries develop, the challenges facing our world also grow, and the risks climb in parallel. The sustainability of the society, country, and planet that we live in becomes ever more important. The framework that forms the world ecosystem, from individuals to countries, must act with a shared sense of responsibility, collective effort, and awareness to address these risks and take precise steps toward the needs of our planet. At Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS), along with our group companies and employees, we consider taking these steps our fundamental duty.

We established the CANiK Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee in late 2023 with this sense of responsibility and awareness. We then rolled up our sleeves at the beginning of 2024 to start our tasks and projects. The most significant contribution to our committee comes from the presence of our valued colleagues, whom we consider cherished members of our family. Our committee includes administrative staff, personnel from our business development and corporate communications departments, human resources staff, and valuable members of our PR agency. Our employees help us excel both nationally and globally. They proactively address social and environmental issues with a strong sense of duty and experience, providing invaluable input to our committee. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to them once again.

Corporate social responsibility can be simply defined as the efforts of companies to create positive impacts on the environment and society. Beyond legal obligations, corporate social responsibility also encompasses ethical values, human rights, environmental protection, and social development. To address these and more, our committee holds monthly meetings where we discuss budget and project tracking, organizational matters, and evaluate new projects. We recognized the opportunity to enhance corporate social responsibility activities within the global defense industry as we established our committee in late 2023. As SYS group companies, we are committed to launching ambitious social responsibility projects, just as we do with our products and services, and we will continue to work selflessly to maximize benefits for society and our planet.

The defense and aerospace sector is critically important for national security and economic development, especially for our country. The responsibilities of companies operating in this sector towards society are of great significance. As a company in the defense industry, we aim to ensure social and environmental sustainability in the long term. We will work tirelessly to create a better individual, a better society, a better country, and a better planet, volunteering ourselves in these efforts with joy and pride. While humans are at the center of our projects, our movement toward improvement also includes animals and all living beings, who are valuable and indispensable parts of our society. With the strong winds of innovation and technological advancements, we have set our sails to goodness, justice, and peace. We say, “Full speed ahead, hoist the sails, let’s advance with determination!”
“We Have Applied for UN Global Compact Membership”
As a global Turkish company, we aim to elevate the standards of corporate social responsibility worldwide and be a leader in CSR. We will collaborate with relevant ministries, institutions, and non-governmental organizations, and take on critical roles for the future of our industry and society, to achieve greater benefits to society with more comprehensive and larger projects. It is precisely for this reason that we have applied for membership in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). Once the evaluation process is complete, we will be included in the international reporting system with even more professional projects, and we will share our progress with the public and the international community with utmost transparency. As the CSR Committee of this global Turkish company, we are thrilled and excited about this development.

As I mentioned above, our mission centers around adding value to society through our activities and improving the quality of life for everyone. We focus on education, health, environmental protection, and social development projects, providing support to different segments of society.

We work to minimize risks related to environmental sustainability and to promote sustainable practices. We understand that this will be possible through the use of renewable energy, effective waste management, and the development of environmentally friendly technologies.

Happier Employees for a More Successful Organization
Protecting the rights of our employees and creating safe, healthy, joyful, and peaceful work environments are fundamental aspects of our mission. For this reason, we place great importance on workplace safety and employee health. In addition, we aim to support our employees’ physical well-being, boost their self-confidence, and strengthen their bond with our institution through various sports activities. We value the ideas, suggestions, and wishes of our employees greatly. This is why we continue our efforts to become a more successful organization with a happier workforce through initiatives like our “Don’t Bottle It Up, Fire It Up” project, regular employee satisfaction surveys, and the dedicated sections on our CANiK Superior World website, (**link to be added) designed to hear from them.

On the other hand, we have also rolled up our sleeves to address the shortage of human resources, one of the biggest challenges in the defense and aerospace industry. We are running scholarship programs, internship opportunities, and educational projects to nurture talented young individuals in their respective fields.

We develop and carry out social projects aimed at improving the quality of life for disadvantaged groups continuously, in collaboration with non-governmental organizations and the General Directorate of Foundations. These projects include access to healthcare services, vocational training, and employment support.



While investing in people, we also implement various environmental protection programs to ensure the sustainable use of natural resources and to reduce environmental pollution.




We Will Build a Sustainable Future with Our Children
We believe that corporate social responsibility is not just an ethical obligation but also a critical process for long-term business success. Building a sustainable future will enhance our company’s competitive edge and reputation, and it will also bring immense satisfaction to our colleagues, who take pride in contributing to a meaningful purpose that benefits their families, communities, country, and the world. This, in turn, will boost their performance and sense of belonging. Today, it is an undeniable reality that the younger generation, in particular, expects much greater social benefits from their careers and the companies they work for. Working towards a purpose, striving for a positive impact, and the resulting sense of fulfillment will undoubtedly help preserve and enhance our industry’s human resources and accumulated expertise.

We continue our efforts to create a better future for both our country and the world. Ensuring the sustainability of labor is among the most crucial requirements in our journey to accomplish just that. We also believe that the key to success on this long journey lies in the children to whom we will entrust our future. In every project we undertake and every benefit we create, we make an effort to reach out to children, nurturing a sense of social and environmental responsibility within them as we build a sustainable future together.
