CANiK celebrated 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day with a tree planting event. Approximately 300 people including CANiK employees, executives, and their families participated in the event titled "CANiK Children Rooting for the Future," which was held in Samsun. H. Zafer Aral, the Chairman of the Board of Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS), stated at the event: “As our children root for the future, the forest in Samsun will continue to grow as a symbol of our CANiK family's successes. We celebrate 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day and wish a future filled with peace and happiness for all our children.”
SYS, the parent company of CANiK and the world's fifth-largest producer of firearms, demonstrated its commitment to a sustainable future. SYS focuses on the protection of nature, expansion of green spaces, and environmental awareness, as evidenced by the "CANiK Children Rooting for the Future" event. SYS employees and their families gathered on 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, aiming to root for the future with the saplings they planted.
“The Saplings We Plant Today Will Transform into the Forests of Tomorrow”
Speaking at the tree planting ceremony held in the area allocated for CANiK by the Samsun Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Aral stated, “Since the establishment of our group companies, we have continued to add value to our country while being acutely aware of our responsibility to protect our nature and natural resources. The saplings we planted today in honor of CANiK’s younger generations on 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day will grow into the forests of tomorrow. As our children root for the future, the forest in Samsun will expand as a symbol of the successes of our CANiK family. We celebrate this day and wish for a future filled with peace and happiness for all our children.”

Didem Aral, a Member of the Board of SYS and Chair of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee, emphasized the commitment of SYS group companies to securing a beautiful future for children and the world, stating: “Our CANiK CSR Committee was established at the end of 2023 and began its activities in early 2024 with great enthusiasm. We embarked on this valuable journey guided by the United Nations Global Compact sustainability goals. Here in Samsun with our children, we are planting the first CANiK Memorial Forest. We sincerely hope that future generations, along with our children, will have clean air to breathe and beautiful forests to explore. We will continue our efforts with the hope of making a difference, together with future generations, and preserving the world and its livability. On this occasion, we respectfully remember our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who bequeathed to our nation and our precious children the 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, along with his esteemed comrades-in-arms. I also extend my thanks to our Board of Directors and our Chairman of the Board, Mr. H. Zafer Aral, for their unwavering support of our Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.”
The tree-planting event was festive and suited to the occasion, featuring a fun area with cotton candy and cookies for the children, face painting activities, and a sausage balloon show.
