Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS) marked its 25th anniversary in the 100th year of the Republic. The company, now the world’s 5th largest firearms manufacturer with its flagship CANiK brand, aims to reach the pinnacle of the global defense industry. H. Zafer Aral, Chairman of the Board of SYS, along with SYS employees, visited Anıtkabir to pay tribute to the 100th year of the Republic and the 25th year of the company. They laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Established in a small workshop in Samsun in 1998, SYS celebrates its 25th year as a global leader in firearms manufacturing. H. Zafer Aral shared that the company exports 95 percent of its production to 70 countries across four continents. In his anniversary message, he stated, “Our goal is to reach the pinnacle of the global defense industry. We will continue to implement our strategic plans and work tirelessly towards this goal.”

Aral emphasized that SYS exports pistols, heavy machine guns, autocannons, and fire control systems to friendly and allied countries worldwide. He added, “It is time to celebrate the pride and joy of a 25-year journey as the SYS family. We took our first step into the defense industry as a 69-year-old industrialist family exactly 25 years ago, on September 18, 1998, and we have remained committed to our goal of becoming a leader in the global defense sector since then. We have achieved what we have on our way to this goal by implementing our strategic plans with determination.

The SYS family made a special visit to Anıtkabir to mark the 100th year of the Republic and the 25th anniversary of the founding of SYS. Employees and management of SYS laid a wreath at Atatürk’s mausoleum. H. Zafer Aral, Chairman of the Board of SYS, proceeded to sign the Anıtkabir Visitors’ Book at the Misak-ı Milli Tower, following a moment of silence for the liberators of Türkiye. Aral wrote the following words in the Visitors’ Book: “We are honored and proud to be here, before your silent watch, on the 100th anniversary of the transition of the eternal Turkish state, founded 2232 years ago by Mete Khan with ancient customs, to a secular Republic. As the Turkish nation advances towards contemporary civilization in line with your wishes, the entire nation is working with all its might to rapidly develop the modern defense industry initiative and thus ensure the Republic of Türkiye takes its deserved place in the global order. As the 70-year-old industrialist Aral family and its employees, we are determined and committed to your path and your goals, as tireless and honorable individuals. The Republic of Türkiye will eternally persist with your foresight, ideas, and works. We bow respectfully in your presence, beloved Atatürk.”
