SYS and Nurol Makina UK Join Forces
UNIROBOTICS and AEI Systems, both part of the SYS group, which also includes CANiK, have successfully integrated the 30 × 113 mm low recoil VENOM LR cannon produced by AEI Systems and the indigenous remote-controlled weapon system (RCWS) TRAKON made by UNIROBOTICS onto Nurol Makina’s EJDER YALÇIN 4 × 4 tactical wheeled armored vehicle. This collaboration between two Turkish defense and aerospace industry companies with investments in the UK was solidified with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The vehicle armed with a TRAKON turret then underwent successful static test firings in the UK.
“We Are Creating the Technologies of the Future”
The collaboration was formalized at the DSEI 2023 fair held in September in London, UK, dealing with the integration of UNIROBOTICS’ TRAKON RCWS and AEI Systems’ VENOM LR cannon into Nurol Makina’s EJDER YALÇIN tactical wheeled armored vehicle. In December, the systems integrated into the vehicle underwent successful static test firings in the UK. Cahit Utku Aral, General Manager of SYS, stated: “We have now become a company that creates the technologies of the future in the field of medium-caliber cannon systems, with our recent acquisition of the UK-based AEI Systems into our group. We are pleased to advance our string of successes with a beautiful pearl – our collaboration with Nurol Makina, a well-established company in the defense industry. We strongly believe that the renown of EJDER YALÇIN 4 × 4 will continue to grow with VENOM LR and TRAKON, and we will achieve greater successes together with Nurol Makina in the future.”
“A Bright Future Awaits Us”
Ömür Baç, General Manager of UNIROBOTICS, commented, “We believe UNIROBOTICS has a bright future in weapon turrets for land and sea platforms. We are working hard in this direction, aiming to make our weapon turrets one of our main competitive products across the entire globe. We have integrated AEI Systems’ 30 mm cannon onto Nurol Makina’s EJDER YALÇIN 4 × 4 tactical wheeled armored vehicle and successfully conducted the initial static firing tests for the turret’s structural testing process.”
Firing Tests Conducted in the UK
The complete package of TRAKON, VENOM LR, and EJDER YALÇIN integration in the static live fire tests in the UK has resulted in success. The next phase will involve firing tests with the stabilization system active.
SYS, one of the world’s leading firearms producers, acquired the renowned British company AEI Systems following its investment decision in the UK. Nurol Makina, a prominent Turkish military vehicle manufacturer, expanded its operations to a new strategic level by establishing Nurol Makina UK in the United Kingdom.
