CANik, a Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS) brand that exports firearms to all corners of the world, has received two awards in a single year at the 2023 Industry Choice Awards (ICA), one of the most prestigious awards in the small arms sector.
A recent addition to CANiK’s arsenal, SFx RIVAL-S, received the "Handgun of the Year" award by receiving the highest score from the jury, while METE MC9, a special version of the reliable METE series with only a 28 mm width, won the "Concealed Carry Pistol of the Year" award. CANiK has been participating in ICA, where hundreds of manufacturers introduce their new products every year, since 2015 and has won the Handgun of the Year award in 2017, 2019, and 2022 as well, along with the Concealed Carry Pistol of the Year award in 2020 with TP9 ELITE SC.
Handgun of the Year Award Goes to CANiK for the 4th Time
CANiK received the ICA Handgun of the Year award in 2017 with TP9 SFx, in 2019 with TP9 ELITE COMBAT, and in 2022 with the SFx RIVAL, and received the 2023 award with its new pistol, SFx RIVAL-S. C. SFx RIVAL-S: Heavier and Stronger
CANiK’s latest addition to its superior firearms offerings, SFx RIVAL-S, shares the same ergonomic structure as the award-winning SFx RIVAL, but is built around a high-quality steel frame. SFx RIVAL-S is specifically developed for competition shooters, with its easily disassembled steel frame, and is approximately 30% heavier than the polymer-framed SFx RIVAL. Equipped with a lightened aluminum 90° break flat trigger, SFx RIVAL-S weighs 1,185 grams and measures 205.5 mm in length, 145 mm in height, and has a 127 mm barrel length. The pistol chambers the ubiquitous 9 × 19 mm ammunition, and all its features combine to enable fast and highly accurate shots while minimizing recoil due to the pistol’s reinforced frame.

Intense Tests, New Standards, Perfect Results
Intense efforts in design, engineering, and materials were spent to ensure METE MC9 would be able to pass rigorous tests with its small and slim design. CANiK was able to redefine the performance standards for the micro-compact segment with these efforts. In addition to being the highest-capacity pistol in its segment, METE MC9 features CANiK’s renowned trigger mechanism, setting it apart in this class. Particularly, having the trigger pull of a full-sized pistol during rapid follow-up shots enables users to make fast and accurate shots.
Interest Beyond Expectations
CANiK launched METE MC9 at the SHOT Show held in Las Vegas, USA, from January 17 to 20. The micro-compact pistol received a significantly higher level of interest than what the company expected. CANiK’s new factory, located in West Palm Beach, South Florida, will initially focus on producing sub-compact and micro-compact class pistols, with METE MC9 serving as the flagship for these pistols. This factory will also host CANiK USA’s headquarters.

METE MC9, which has all the superior qualities of the METE Series, defines the Micro Compact segment with its special ultra-thin 28 mm design and high-capacity magazine. METE MC9 offers an extraordinary experience to its users, with comfort and ease of carrying along with the high-capacity magazine. Just like in other METE series pistols, MC9 can be disassembled and reassembled very quickly down to its smallest part, including the trigger group, thanks to its fully modular design along with a redesigned 28 mm double-sided slide holder. All optical sights (except Trijicon RMRcc) that can be used in the METE series can be easily attached to METE MC9. Having the “co-witness” feature, METE MC9 can be used with both the optical sights and the traditional iron sights at the same time, allowing the user to engage the target very easily and quickly.
