Nils Jonasson, who started to compete in shooting in 2002 after watching his father compete in the local all steel pistol match for several months, has been taking part in the CANiK Team since 2018 as its captain. Jonasson, attracted attention by winning awards in various competitions with the TP9 SFx, stated that he is proud to be a part of the CANiK family.
Can we know Nils Jonasson, the CANiK Team captain?
Nils Jonasson: In 2002, I started to participate in competitions in shooting. As a person 12-year-old, I liked to play video games and found shooting as similar to the games I loved. I mustered up the courage to actually participate in the match. Then I put on a performance that could only be described as a disaster and almost near the end. The time I spent in the first stage was 187 seconds. The funny thing is, after competing for almost 20 years, I won all the national championships at the same time as it took me shooting during that stage.

“It’s my honor that CANiK trusted me to represent them in the shooting competitions’ world. The people that made CANiK possible are some of the smartest and most realistic people I know. I am proud to be a part of such a company with the opportunity to grow with the entire CANiK family. Shooting is kind a like life, sometimes you hit the target and sometimes you don’t. But it’s only a failure if you give up. The best shooters in the world make huge mistakes and they all miss their mark at some point. You can’t go back in time but you can learn and go forward.”
How did Nils Jonasson meet and start to work with CANiK?
Nils Jonasson: I’ve heard of CANiK before. I knew they had a reputation for having great factory triggers on their handguns. But I had not used any products of CANiK until they came to me with the opportunity to represent them in late 2018. Before accepting this offer, I needed to find out if their handguns had what it took to be legally competitive. During the next few months, I shot a thousand times with a TP9 SFx to find out what its capabilities are and what kind of abuse it might require. But more importantly, I felt that I could use it to win. Then I’ve proven it in USPSA, IDPA, USSL and 3gun.

Nils Jonasson: The TP9 SFx is versatile and easy to shoot for newer shooters and experienced shooters alike. The optics plate system allows you to mount a huge range of optics sights, or you can maintain the iron sight configuration if you’re keeping it simple. Shoot-ability of the SFx comes from trigger trigger trigger!!
The consistent and predictable break all CANiK’s share are a huge attribute that sets them apart from the rest of the striker-fired pistols on the market.
In which competitions will we watch Jonasson with CANiK arms?
Nils Jonasson: My shooting schedule for the year 2022 is still developing. However, I plan to participate in most, if not all, USPSA regional championships 1 to 8, USPSA Production Nationals, USPSA Carry Optics Nationals, IDPA US Nationals, Colorado State USPSA Championship, Arizona State USPSA Championship and much more.
