A New Era Begins in the United States with CANiK USA
The United States remains a center of intense competition and vast opportunity within the defence industry.
In line with SYS Group’s global expansion strategy, CANiK is accelerating its operations in the U.S. with the opening of a new production facility in West Palm Beach, Florida.
In this exclusive interview featured in the 12th issue of CANiK NEWS, SYS Group – CANiK General Manager Mr. C. Utku ARAL shares key insights into the company’s U.S. growth strategy, provides details about the new manufacturing facility, outlines ambitions for medium-caliber weapon production, and highlights the logistical and customer-centric advantages of localization.

CANiK NEWS: Mr. Aral, thank you for accepting our interview request. What are CANiK’s strategic growth plans in the U.S. market? How do you maintain a competitive advantage, and what are your long-term goals in this market?
C. UTKU ARAL: For CANiK and all SYS Group companies, the U.S. market is of utmost importance, both due to its massive defence spending and the fact that it represents 80% of the global small arms market. In this context, we took our first step in 2009 by selecting the right partner—Century Arms, a company with a 70-year history—and signed a distribution agreement for CANiK products. Since then, we have combined CANiK’s innovative product development and high-volume, high-quality manufacturing capabilities with Century’s marketing and sales strengths. As a result, as of 2024, CANiK has become the fifth-largest company in its field.
Of course, this success is a testament not only to the efforts of our R&D and supply chain teams, but also to the dedication of our marketing and sales teams in Turkey, our product managers at CANiK USA, and our U.S.-based sales and marketing staff. CANiK has made remarkable strides in earning the trust and appreciation of U.S. users. Since 2017, we have consistently received “Handgun of the Year” awards, almost every year.In addition, we continue to achieve outstanding results in competitive shooting events across both men's and women's categories.As a result of these efforts, we have captured nearly 10% of the market share in this highly competitive space.
Our expansion in the U.S. continued with the establishment of CANiK USA in West Palm Beach, Florida in 2017, in partnership with Century. The facility spans approximately 10,000 square meters, and our initial goal is to reach an annual production capacity of 100,000 firearms.
