CANiK, founded in 1998 as a small workshop, has grown into a leading company with a strong presence in Europe and America. Over the past 25 years, our company has achieved numerous successes and has built a reputation for excellence through our extensive product range and the experience, know-how, and technological capabilities of our team, representing Türkiye in the whole world. As you may appreciate, random chance and happenstance do not lie behind this success. In the 6th issue of CANiK News, I would like to touch on “Ways to Become a Successful Industrialist”, and on these pages, you will have detailed information on our indigenous products that reflect our experience, know-how, and technological capabilities.
I can clearly say this as someone who has always been a part of an industrialist family: our success has been continuing for three generations, and this success is mainly brought by a constant effort that is founded on our goals and our belief in achieving them. Growing up in an industrialist family is very important for becoming an industrialist with vision and broadening your horizons evermore.
From the very beginning, CANiK had a clear goal of becoming a global brand. Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) was responsible for issuing ISO9001 documents when we were founded. We went through specific audits and inspections while receiving this certification. In our last meeting with the TSE commission, the chairman of that commission said the following on our vision document: “We would like to give you a warning. You wrote that you wanted to become a global brand, but these goals must be more grounded and realistic and written as such.” Today, we reached our goal of becoming a global brand.
When we first entered this sector, we saw that the leading defence and aerospace companies across the globe were transforming themselves to become global brands and that they should not be comfortable operating just in their countries of origin. In this sector, apart from exceptional circumstances, the local market of a nation was not enough to provide the company with commercial sustainability. From the beginning, we determined our goal of becoming a global company with the awareness of the fact that globalisation is a must for sustainability. As CANiK, we are proud to be among the largest firearm producers in the world and global markets.
My late father, Cahit Aral, laid the groundwork for CANiK’s success. As the second generation, I did my best to do my duties. However, my son C. Utku Aral and his vision played a very significant role in bringing us where we are currently. As we tried to become a global brand, three generations shared their experiences with each other constantly, and this sharing will continue with more generations. I would like to share the treasured principles I learned from my late father Cahit Aral, and I try my best to transfer to the next generation and beyond: the first condition of becoming a successful industrialist is behaving honestly, clearly, and openly to your state, family, and employees no matter what happens. The second condition is bringing your knowledge and experience to the future, in other words, analysing your knowledge and experience correctly and transforming them for the requirements of the modern world and applying what you have learned. The third condition is working with professional, knowledgeable, self-made, and experienced people. If you use the principles I shared, you will lay the foundation for future success and gain a perspective that can surpass the challenges on the way to success. CANiK and its subsidiaries will continue to be a leading brand in Türkiye and beyond with the principles they have internalised to the core.
Our UNIROBOTICS subsidiary is the cover story for this issue, setting an excellent example of how this industrialist tradition can be learned from and applied, not unlike an inheritance for corporations. The three principles of becoming a successful industrialist still apply to the new generation of tech-oriented businesses in the modern age.
We wanted to share the complete story of UNIROBOTICS as we made our precious subsidiary the cover story for the 6th issue of CANiK News. UNIROBOTICS makes a difference with TARGAN and TRAKON weapon turrets, and it goes above and beyond of what it is responsible for with its young and dynamic team. Our subsidiary achieved complete comprehension of all the technologies it uses for product development, and we are proud of it.
We are excited and proud to be with you again in the 6th issue of CANiK News, which allows us to share the developments we had and the successes we achieved in our journey.
I wish you all a pleasant reading.
