UNIROBOTICS Works on Weapon System Solutions to Support the Operators
UNIROBOTICS is working on technologies that will enable operators to use weapon systems more effectively with solutions such Gun Mount with Active Stabilizer, Remote Controlled Stabilized Weapon Station, Buffered Cradle System and Smart Weapon (IoT Weapons).
UNIROBOTICS is working on technologies that will enable operators to use weapon systems more effectively with solutions such Gun Mount with Active Stabilizer, Remote Controlled Stabilized Weapon Station, Buffered Cradle System and Smart Weapon (IoT Weapons). Even though it was founded only 2 years ago, UNIROBOTICS managed to mass produce and export some of its solutions it developed with intense R&D efforts.
Integration of weapon systems into platforms and their effective utilization by their operators comes with though challenges that must be overcome. Some of those problems include the stabilization of the weapon system, and providing visual and physical support and feedback to the operator to ensure maximum effectiveness of the weapon system. Solving these problems and others require innovative mechatronic solutions and systems, and UNIROBOTICS works to achieve this.
UNIROBOTICS focuses on developing smart mechanisms that support the operators of weapon systems.
The company is able to develop effective solutions in a short time, thanks to its familiarity with the characteristics of the weapons and its easy access to weapons and infrastructures such as shooting ranges. Since UNIROBOTICS also focuses on academic knowledge and R&D, the company can adapt to changes very quickly and easily.
A New Paradigm for Gun Mounts of Surface Platform
UNIROBOTICS responds to shortcomings of existing basic weapon mounts and remote-controlled weapon systems in surface platforms with its innovative Gun Mount with Active Stabilizer solution.
Firearms integrated basic gun mounts provide the widest field of vision to their operators, however, the operators of these systems face extensive physical exertion in rough sea conditions, along with increased stress that comes with risky missions. The operator is trying to both stabilize his or her body on a moving platform and detecting and classifying any possible threats. In firefight conditions, ensuring fire suppression with effective firing and keeping the gun on the target presents another problem. In these conditions, the operator experiences the worst physical and mental exertion.
As such, a firearm cannot be operated as effectively on surface platforms compared to land, no matter how amazing its ballistic performance is. The firearm also experiences detrimental conditions and can only operate to the best of its operator’s capabilities and initiatives. This reduces the firepower of the platform and the self-confidence of the crew.
Gun Mount with Active Stabilizer comes forward as an effective solution in that regard. The system reduces said detrimental effects to a minimum along with increasing the integrated compatibility between the platform and gun to a maximum. Gun Mount with Active Stabilizer was designed to be a semi-robotic solution that interfaces a robotic system with the operator. The operator can easily aim and fire his or her gun and provide effective fire, no matter how rough sea conditions are.
Remote-Controlled Weapon Stations of Offshore Patrol Vessels to Carry UNIROBOTICS’ Signature
UNIROBOTICS will provide the Remote-Controlled Weapon Stations for the Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV), to be constructed with ASFAT as their main contractor for the Turkish Naval Forces Command.
UNIROBOTICS signed the contract regarding the development, production, and platform integration of the weapon stations on 1 October 2021 with HAVELSAN which is the subcontractor of mission systems for the OPV Project.
The cooperation between UNIROBOTICS and HAVELSAN has been ongoing for approximately one and a half year. The Remote-Controlled Stabilized Weapon Station that will be developed by UNIROBOTICS, has been a part of the proposal that HAVELSAN provided for OPV Project since day one.
Remote-Controlled Stabilized Weapon Station is planned to be ready for service in 2023, after R&D, design and qualification processes have been completed.
According to the contract UNIROBOTICS signed, the company will deliver four systems to be used in two ships in the first phase. As a continuation of these efforts, further orders may follow for other OPVs.
Almost 100 Percent National Products for Weapon Station
A CANiK M2 QCB 12.7mm heavy machine gun will be used in the Remote-Controlled Stabilized Weapon Station. As the development of the key components like electro-optical systems, motors, software, and the weapon of the mount is planned to be indigenous and produced within Türkiye, almost 100 percent of the system will be Turkish made.
Buffered Cradle System Finds Export Success
UNIROBOTICS designed its Buffered Cradle System for M2 12.7mm heavy machine guns. The system damps the recoil caused by the machine gun and thus it increases both ease of use and the accuracy of the machine gun. The system also found export success with CANiK M2 QCB 12.7mm heavy machine guns.
IoT Weapon to Bring New Opportunities
The solutions UNIROBOTICS provide to turn pistols and rifles into smart weapons (IoT weapons) bring capabilities like tracking and usage statistics. Thus, the weapons transform into smart systems that can communicate, provide statistical data, and correct errors.
The capabilities brought by IoT weapon systems may bring new opportunities to their users. For example, making gunnery training much more efficient through enriching the interactions between the trainer and trainee. Furthermore, smart weapons increase the security of authorized operators in active firefights.
UNIROBOTICS completed the prototyping for its IoT weapon solution for pistols. These prototypes will be tested extensively in the future.
