Canik’s Strategic Contribution to Türkiye–US Cooperation at the NATO Summit: The $100 Billion Target

The 2026 NATO Ankara Summit shaped the future of co-production, technological development, and industrial cooperation across the defence sector. As an official sponsor of the Türkiye–US Defence Industry Cooperation Roundtable, Canik companies made a strategic contribution to the Alliance’s drive for resilient supply chains.

Here are some of the key highlights from Canik CEO C. Utku ARAL’s evaluations of the summit:

  • Rapid and High-Volume Production: The summit highlighted that high-cost systems with lengthy qualification processes are not sustainable in wartime, emphasising the urgent need for NATO to invest in rapidly deployable unmanned solutions.

  • The $100 Billion Target and CAATSA: To reach the $100 billion trade volume target between Türkiye and the US, the necessity of consolidating political trust, resolving CAATSA-related sanctions, and addressing additional customs tariffs on Turkish goods was strongly conveyed.

  • Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS): It was noted that Canik companies play a critical role in the 30×113 mm segment as one of only three manufacturers worldwide. The primary goal is to integrate these strategic systems—produced across facilities in the US, the UK, and Türkiye—into all NATO platforms as a comprehensive anti-drone solution.

With production facilities across three continents, Canik companies continue to advance their global playmaker vision by offering high-technology, cost-effective, and sustainable defence solutions to Allies worldwide.
