Located in South Florida, the facility is scheduled to begin mass production in December 2024. This major investment marks one of CANiK’s most significant efforts to strengthen its presence in the U.S. market. SYS Group- CANiK General Manager C. Utku ARAL, shared details of the investment and CANiK’s goals for the U.S. market during the SAHA EXPO 2024 fair.
Ambitious Goals and Vision for U.S. Production
ARAL highlighted that CANiK’s success in the U.S. market has positioned it as the fifth-largest firearms brand globally, with plans to elevate this ranking further. Reflecting on the company’s 2017 experience, when it was invited to bid for the U.S. border security and law enforcement handgun procurement tender but lost points due to a lack of U.S.-based production, ARAL emphasized that the new facility in Florida would eliminate this disadvantage.The facility has been designed not only for small arms production but also to manufacture heavy machine guns and medium-caliber weapons. By meeting the needs of the U.S. military and law enforcement directly, CANiK aims to secure a significant competitive edge in the market.
Strengthening CANiK’s U.S. Presence
The U.S., as the world’s largest firearms market, presents significant opportunities for manufacturers. CANiK has solidified its position as a strong player with the strategic move to establish CANiK USA. This initiative was detailed in the 10th issue of CANiK NEWS by CANiK USA President William SUCHER.
In his article, Sucher highlighted the facility as a standalone project, explaining the collaborative efforts with architectural, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, and construction firms. He also noted the invaluable training provided by CANiK’s Türkiye-based team, stating that the hard work paid off with the first product rolling off the production line.
A Fully Equipped, Automated Production Facility
The facility, boasting a 20,000-square-meter closed area, stands out among U.S. production centers. Over time, it will manage all of CANiK’s U.S. operations. ARAL explained that the facility is equipped with full automation systems, minimizing human labor in production. Operated by robotic production lines, the modern facility is designed to adapt to future production increases. ARAL stressed the importance of locally manufactured products for U.S. federal contracts, stating, “Production will initially focus on handguns and gradually expand to other products in our portfolio. Our strategic plan will guide our production operations in the U.S.”
