Strategic Backbone of the Global Ecosystem: SYS Group’s Strong Supply Chain Vision
Behind the success of SYS Group, which has become a "global integrator" across the Türkiye-UK-USA axis, lies a massive supply ecosystem that is strengthening and undergoing a technology-oriented transformation every day.
In line with its 2026 goals, the Group positions its suppliers not merely as "providers" but as strategic "business partners." Through localization initiatives, the Group minimizes foreign dependency while elevating its quality standards to a global level. We spoke with SYS Group Purchasing and Supply Manager Rıfkı ÖNAL about the strategic supplier approach, domestic production capabilities, and the culture of "collective intelligence."
From Supplier to Business Partner: A Journey of Development and Change
CANiK NEWS: Mr. ÖNAL, how do you manage the transformation of suppliers from "providers" to strategic business partners within the SYS Group ecosystem? What role do your Supplier Support Programs play in this process?
Rıfkı ÖNAL: We have never approached our suppliers as mere product providers. We see them as true business partners. One of our core principles is openness. We actively share our facilities, capabilities, and know how with our suppliers. Every supplier is welcome to visit us at any time, even without a formal appointment. In fact, we strongly encourage this, particularly for new suppliers.
The purpose of these visits is to ensure that our partners gain a clear understanding of our quality and control systems, our expectations, and our production processes. It is especially important in the early stages that suppliers become familiar with our measurement systems, quality standards, and operational capabilities so that we can establish an effective and aligned way of working whenever a need arises.
As SYS Group, we also conduct site visits when we first engage with a company and throughout the course of our collaboration. During these visits, we evaluate the supplier’s production processes, quality systems, and overall infrastructure in detail. These assessments, carried out together with our Quality Department, help us identify areas of potential cooperation and provide recommendations to ensure that products consistently meet technical specifications.
Producing the right product from the very beginning creates significant advantages for both parties. For the supplier, it enables cost efficiency and supports the development of high volume business opportunities. For us as the buyer, it ensures consistency, reduces the need for extensive controls, and minimizes inventory related costs. In this way, both sides benefit from a stable and reliable quality and production system.
The most critical factor in this continuous development and improvement approach is the supplier’s willingness to adapt and evolve. Based on the specific needs and expectations of each supplier, we are able to activate two different development programs.
